Please Excuse My Mess!

The Writer

Dear reader, please excuse my mess as I re-shift the blog around. I have moved it from a self-hosted WordPress site to a WordPress hosted. Please forage around and find new things.

I have also discovered that all of my photos will need to be re-published. It will take a few months to get everything back in place.

Thank You!

Always, Bumby

He Only Takes the Best.

God saw he was getting tired

and a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around

him and whispered, “ Come with me. ”

With tear filled eyes

we watched him suffer and fade away.

Although we loved him deeply,

we could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard –

working mind put to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

A Visit from St. Nicolas or ‘Twas the night before Christmas ‘

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danc’d in their heads,

Sometimes when you cry, no one sees your tears.

Sometimes when you are in pain, no one sees your hurt.

Sometimes when you are worried, no one sees your stress.

Sometimes when you are happy, no one sees you smile.

But FART just one friggin time and every body knows.

GOTCHA!!  You thought that was going to be one of those heart-touching stories.

The Lion Of OZ

The Creative Life

There is no map for your creative life,

no step-by-step procedure that someone else can hand down in a book or a blog that will magically reveal to you the meaning of your Existence.

It could be that the mission of your life is to find your mission,

and in that process discover who you are and what you have to give.

It’s not a linear process.

You’re allowed to loop back to learn something you might have missed the first time.

You can kind of spiral your way forward.

The important thing is to begin the journey.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.

It turns what we have into enough, and more.

It turns denial into acceptance. chaos into order,

And confusion into clarity…

It turns problems into gifts, failures into success,

the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events.

Gratitude makes sense of our past,

brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

We Wear the Mask

by Paul Laurence Dunbar

We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,–
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be overwise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!
